DISC, a leading source of specialty packaging solutions, has installed a new HP Indigo WS6600 Digital Press – expanding the supplier’s capability to produce high-quality labels, cartons and other packaging applications on a variety of substrates.

“Our investment in this outstanding digital technology will expand our ability to serve our clients with a variety of products,” said Margaret Krumholz, president of DISC. “Its unique configuration increases our range of offerings, enabling us to expand our label business and deliver shrink sleeves and flexible packaging, as well as folding cartons, on the same press.”

The new press is 13” wide, prints seven colors, and incorporates HP Indigo’s SmartScreen solutions. It has advanced automated systems for calibration to assure consistent quality throughout the print run. The digital format eliminates the cost of plates and minimizes make-ready time. Since proofs are made directly on the press, there is no question of accurately matching color.

“The unique capabilities of the HP Indigo digital system give us a competitive edge,” said Stephen Frey, DISC senior vice president, Sales. “Because we have the flexibility to print on paper, board or synthetic film in a range of calipers, we further our objective of being a full service packaging producer. Whether clients need short-run labels, sequentially numbered labels, flexible packaging, or even cartons, they will reap the benefits of this agile, high-quality press.”
